The Fastest-Rising Names of 2025
One year can remake a name. Between the 2024 and 2025 charts, the biggest single-year climbers didn't inch up — they multiplied. To keep this list honest, we only counted names that already had a real base: at least 100 babies in 2024. So these percentages are growth on substance, not five babies becoming ten.
Girls: Madisson's year

| Merritt | 111 | 368 | +232% | #1,390 → #688 |
| Ailany | 2,595 | 7,118 | +174% | #101 → #14 |
| Kyomi | 198 | 524 | +165% | #1,019 → #538 |

| Eliora | 119 | 225 | +89% | #1,342 → #946 |
| Kailany | 255 | 479 | +88% | #885 → #574 |
Madisson — the double-s spelling of Madison — went from 157 babies to 932, a 494% jump, leaping 839 places to #319. Merritt more than tripled. But the most remarkable line in the table belongs to Ailany: she grew 174% from an already-large base, adding 4,523 babies — the biggest absolute gain of any name in America — to land at #14.

Jasai rose 446% (127 → 693). Eithan gained 2,048 babies — the second-biggest absolute gain in the country — and broke into the Top 100 at #97. Just below the table, Chozen (+73%, 308 → 533) shows the boys' list runs deep this year.
The gains weren't only at the frontier
Established names added more babies than most risers have in total. Theodore gained 1,286 babies while holding #4; Eliana added 1,744 and moved into the Top 10 at #10; Cooper added 1,757 to reach #27; Charlotte added 803 on her way to #2. And one sound kept winning under four spellings at once: Ailany +174%, Aylani +103%, Ailani +93%, Kailany +88%.
A word of caution
One-year rockets are the most exciting and least reliable names on the chart — our One-Year Rockets piece tracks the same phenomenon from the smallest bases, and history says many climbers cool as fast as they rose. The five-year view in The Fastest-Rising Baby Names in America separates the durable climbs from the spikes. If a riser above is on your shortlist, its name page shows the whole curve — check whether 2025 was year one of a climb or the whole story.
