Quentin origin and meaning
French, from Latin
The French form of Quintinus, from Latin quintus, 'fifth'
Quentin descends from Quintus, the Roman name for a fifth child, and was carried by St Quentin, a 3rd-century missionary martyred in Gaul, whose name is all over northern France. In the US it peaked in 1998, boosted by Quentin Tarantino's fame, and has fallen sharply since — from #529 in 2020 to near the bottom of the top 1,000. That fall now makes it a distinctive choice again.
